Dear Parents,

            Welcome! My name is Melissa Leman and I’m the new 6th grade teacher here at Faith Christian Academy.  I am very excited to start this brand new year together!  It is my pleasure to be here to serve your children to the best of my ability -- academically, spiritually and socially. 

            Let me take a moment to share a little bit about myself.  I grew up in Yonkers, NY and have always had a passion for teaching children.  I’ve been involved in Sunday School, Children’s Church and various youth programs my entire life.  I decided to pursue my passion for teaching and attended Eastern Nazarene College in Boston, MA where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  I moved back to NY and have been teaching in Yonkers for the past two years while I completed my Master’s program at SUNY New Paltz. I have had some awesome learning and teaching experiences the last few years, as well as being involved in some great church programs that have prepared me for the opportunity God has opened for me here at FCA. It is my goal to spark young minds and encourage students to reach their highest potential.  I’m truly looking forward to working and learning alongside your wonderful children.

            Our classroom is going to be a fun and safe learning environment, where everyone is welcome to join in our 6th grade experience!  I believe communication is extremely important to the success your children will have here.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions and concerns you have throughout the year; I will be happy to return phone calls or emails and I will be available to set up conferences as needed.  I will be updating our class website in the next several days, as well as sending home updates and important information on a regular basis.  I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know each of you.
