Q.) When is camp held?
A.) Camp will be held for eight weeks in 2016.
Week 1: June 27 – July 1
Week 2: July 5 - July 8
Week 3: July 11 - July 15
Week 4: July 18 - July 22
Week 5: July 25 - July 29
Week 6: August 1 - August 6
Week 7: August 8 - August 12
Week 8: August 15 - August 19
Q.) Can I sign up my children for one week?
A.) Children can be registered anywhere from one week to all eight weeks or anything in between. Pick and choose which sessions are best for your family.
Q.) What are the hours of Faithkids Camp?
A.) Camp begins at 8:30 am and goes to 4:30pm. We have a before and after care available from 7:30 – 8:30am and from 4:30 – 5:30pm for an additional charge.
Q.) Where is camp located?
A.) Camp will be held at Faith Assembly's new campus located at 25 Golf Club Lane, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Some GPS devices do better with this address: 2330 South Road. The Campus is on Route 9 across from the Mazda dealership, just south of IBM Road.
Our exciting new home for faithkids camp is the former IBM Casperkill Conference Center and Sports Complex. We’ve just completed a multi-million dollar renovation of this beautiful, fully equipped facility. It is the new home of Faith Assembly of God, the sponsor of faithkids Camp. This 27 acre campus contains a state-of-the-art gym and modern facilities including a bowling alley, game room, computer lab, outdoor playscape, picnic grounds, a baseball field and acres of woods and grass covered hills for tons of outdoor fun!
Q.) What ages is camp for?
A.) At Faithkids camp we accept children entering Kindergarten up through Sixth Grade. Campers are divided in to two groups, the Juniors (K-3rd Grade) and the Seniors (4th-6th Grade) offering age-appropriate activities for each group. In addition, we also offer a new "Seven Up" program for young people in the 7th -10th grades. The morning program is a mix of life skills, character building activities, spiritual developement, some counselor in training instruction and lots of camp fun. They will also participate in swimming, trips and camp field trips. In the afternoon Seven Up campers will participate in regular camp activities and will also have the option of joining one of the specialty camps for the hours of 1pm-4pm. Campers will also have the choice to work with younger groups in the role of a C.I.T. (Counselor In Training)
Q.) Is Faithkids Camp a certified camp?
A.) Yes, Faithkids camp operates under the supervision of the State of New York. In addition we are inspected by the Dutchess County Health Department. We meet or exceed all regulations and operational guidelines for day camps operating in the State of New York. We operate as a ministry of Faith Assembly, which has served the community of Poughkeepsie for 80 years. All of our staff under goes a thorough background and character reference process. In addition, we exceed the number of staff that we are required to have First Aid and CPR First Responder certification.
Q.) What is the swimming program like at Faithkids Camp?
A.) While our Casperkill Campus does have three pools, the renovation of them will come as part of later phase of our development. In the meantime, our swim sessions will be held at Cross Court Tennis Club in Wappingers Falls on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There, a State Certified Water Safety Instructor and Certified lifeguards will oversee the swimming program. Our campers will enjoy private swim sessions that feature instruction for new swimmers. In addition, we provide our own camp lifeguard. Our regular staff is present at all times with the campers to ensure a safe and secure aquatic experience for all of our campers.
Q.) Do the campers go on field trips?
A.) Each week we feature an exciting field trip for our campers to local points of interest as well as local fun spots and amusement and game facilities.
Q.) Are meals provided for campers?
A.) There will be an option for campers to buy a lunch box each day.
Q.) How much does camp cost?
A.) Camp is $250 a week per child, which includes all activities, field trips and transportation. Discounts rates are available for attending six to eight weeks and early registration, by May 15th. In addition, we offer a family discount for multiple children. Before care and after care is also available for an additional fee, as well as Sports and Specialty Camps.
Q.) When is the latest I can register/pay?
A.) You can pay online up until the day before the first day of camp that week. You can register and pay in person on the day of camp that week.
