Verse of the Day:

Small Group Values

To connect people with God and each other so that they will grow spiritually, serve inside and outside the church and reach others for Christ.

Connect. Grow. Serve. Reach.

“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.  The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”  (Mark 12:30-31)

  • Groups exist to give people an opportunity to connect and develop friendships
  • Discussion-based groups allow people to develop relationships built on processing and applying the truth of God’s Word
  • Semester-based signups give people an opportunity to meet more people or stay in a group

  • People grow as they learn to apply God’s truth to life
  • People grow as they serve together with and within the group
  • People grow as they become connected with what God is doing in the Church

  • People who are not serving are not growing.
  • People who serve have a greater sense of connection with God and His purposes.
  • People who serve have a greater sense of ownership and connection with the church.

  • Groups are encouraged to keep an outward focus.
  • People are more comfortable visiting a group with a friend.
  • Group members are able to invite friends, family or co-workers to a safe, comfortable environment to hear about Christ.

To connect our entire church family in God-centered community that challenges us to live passionately for Christ and make a difference in our region and beyond.

  • That our small groups will develop people who love God passionately, study His Word diligently, follow His Spirit daily, serve the church willingly and love people freely.
  • That our small groups will facilitate relationships that are growing in deeper spiritual accountability.
  • That our small groups will encourage people toward deeper study of God’s Word in order to build a strong foundation for living the Christian life in our current culture.
  • That our small groups will serve to strengthen every other ministry of the church by developing leaders with strong Biblical foundations, life skills and servant hearts.
  • That our small groups will continually reach out in service to the church and the community through tangible and measurable service projects that demonstrate the love of Christ.
  • That our small groups will be connection centers for those who are seeking Christ or who are unconnected believers.

Core Values

Acts 2:42-47 is the foundational Scripture for any small group ministry. It sets forth the model of groups meeting in homes for the purpose of study, prayer and fellowship.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42-47 NIV

God-centered: At the heart of every small group meeting is God Himself. He is the reason we meet and the reason why we study.

Biblically Sound: We choose studies that are firmly rooted in Scripture and sound doctrine.

Balanced: We choose studies that are balanced in their approach so as to unite rather than divide those who attend.

Spiritual Formation: This is the process by which we intentionally apply what we learn in our studies so that we are  “conformed to the image of Christ “.

Life application: The purpose of our studies is not to simply add to knowledge, but to apply biblical truth to life.

Relationships: Our small groups are the place for people to connect with one another and develop God-centered, satisfying, challenging and accountable relationships.

Service: It is our desire that every member of our small groups will find a place of service within the group and within the body of Christ.

Outreach: Our goal is that our small groups will be a way to reach the lost and serve the community.
